FAQs

Accessibility

We have attempted to select venues that are fully accessible and appropriate for those with mobility issues. Some venues have reserved areas for wheelchair users or those with reduced mobility, this will be made clear upon entrance to the venue or space. Access to underneath Britannia Pier is via the beach, which may not be suitable for those requiring the use of mobility aids. We are able to provide a BSL interpreter for the Friday evening talks, please get in touch with us here if this is something you require. During the whole weekend stewards will be present to guide audiences from site to site, they will be clearly identifiable with YARMONICS branded clothing.

We have provided the exact location of each performance and event via the festival page on the website. These are provided as a WhatThreeWords address, which once clicked will take you to a browser window displaying an exact map location.

Accommodation

Due to its status as a tourist destination, Great Yarmouth has many great and affordable hotels and B&Bs. Here are some of our recommendations:

On a budget: The Clarence / The Little Emily / The Ladybird Guest House

More luxurious: The Carlton Hotel / Furzedown Hotel / Imperial Hotel

Covid

As free Lateral Flow Tests are no longer provided by the government we are not requiring audiences to test before attending YARMONICS. However, we encourage you to take a test before attending for the safety of artists, staff and audiences. If you have Covid symptoms or believe you may have been exposed to infection, please do not attend YARMONICS, we would be grateful if you can let us know so we can release any tickets that may be at capacity.

We encourage you to wear masks when moving around indoor spaces, particularly those with poor ventilation. Mask wearing will not be enforced but we ask you to remain thoughtful and take measures for the safety of artists, staff and audiences.

Facilities

The are toilet facilities at The Hippodrome, St George’s Theatre, Primeyarc (Market Gates shopping centre), Hendee House, Britannia Pier, Colossal Youth and St John’s Pub. Fully accessible public toilets can be found at Market Gates Shopping Centre and at the Jetty Carpark - full details here.

Food and drink

There will be a bar at St George’s Theatre on Friday evening and at Hendee House on Saturday evening (cash only). There will not be any other bars as part of the festival. We welcome audiences to bring their own alcoholic beverages but ask that laws and licensing restrictions are adhered too when drinking in public areas and venues. Full details can be found here.

Bottled water will be available throughout the day for those that require it, but not available to purchase. There are a number of convenience shops across the town.

We recommend the following places to eat: Chico’s Restaurant / Galante / G.T Yarmouth Shawarma Kurdish

Risk

All of the venues and spaces used for YARMONICS have been risk assessed, and made available here.

Seating

Please be aware that not all venues and spaces will have seating. We invite audiences to make themselves comfortable by sitting wherever possible. Please note there is no seating (or equivalent) at the Jetty, under Britannia Pier or in the market place. If you require seating we advise you to bring a portable stool/camping chair with you.

Tickets

Tickets for all events are free with the option of giving a voluntary donation. Due to certain capacity limits at some venues we ask that you order a ticket for the event you plan to attend. You do not need to bring this ticket with you but we may ask for your name and/or email address upon entry. We have separated the Friday and Saturday & Sunday programmes, if you wish to attend both please ensure you order a ticket for both events. All ticket options can be viewed via Eventbrite here.

Transport

There is regular and reliable public transport to Great Yarmouth. Trains to and from Norwich (linking to other national routes) leave approximately every half an hour (full timetable can be viewed here). A number of bus routes travel to Great Yarmouth including 1, 6B, 8, X1, X11, X6 - the 8 being the most frequent and direct from Norwich. Full details can be found here.

If you are travelling by car there are a number of pay and display car parks available in town, these are listed here. We recommend the most convenient and reasonably valued to be North Drive Car Park and King Street Car Park.
